Effective: September 19, 2026 (replaces the January 1, 2026 version)

1. The service

shortcut-tools.com is a free reference for keyboard shortcuts and command-line commands, together with a practice game (Shortcut Speedrun), a printable cheat sheet, a personal “My Stack” page, and a public JSON API and MCP endpoint. Using any part of the site means you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Accuracy and how to report errors

Every platform page states where its shortcuts came from and when they were last checked against that source; see How we verify. Software vendors change, rename and remove shortcuts, keymaps vary by version, operating system and locale, and a user can remap almost anything. The site is therefore provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. If you find a wrong or outdated key, tell us through the contact page and we will re-check the official source.

3. Data licence

The shortcut and command data is published under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence: you may copy, share and adapt it for non-commercial purposes if you credit shortcut-tools.com and release any derivative under the same licence. Commercial use — selling the data, bundling it in a paid product, or serving it with advertising — needs written permission; ask via the contact page. The page texts, editorial notes, design, code and the shortcut-tools name are not covered by that licence and remain our copyright. Vendor and product names belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the software.

4. API and automated access

The read-only API under /api/v1/ and the MCP endpoint at /mcp are free for personal and non-commercial projects at a fair-use rate. Please identify your client with a descriptive User-Agent, cache responses instead of polling, and do not scrape the HTML pages when the API returns the same data. We may rate-limit, block or change the API without notice, and we log request counts and paths (not personal data) to keep it running. Scraping for the purpose of building a competing commercial dataset is not permitted.

5. Game and leaderboard

Playing Shortcut Speedrun sends your score, accuracy, reaction time and the keys you missed to our aggregate statistics; no name or identifier is attached unless you choose to submit a nickname to the leaderboard. Nicknames are shown publicly and may be removed if they are offensive, impersonate someone, or the score was clearly produced by automation. Scores obtained by tampering with the game code may be deleted without notice.

6. Bookmarks and My Stack

Bookmarks and your My Stack selection are stored only in your own browser (local storage). They are never uploaded, so clearing browser data or switching devices removes them. We cannot recover them for you.

7. Advertising and third-party services

The site is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, and we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how pages are used, as described in the privacy policy. We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads to known data-centre and crawler networks so that only real visits are counted.

8. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, its API, or its leaderboard; do not submit false scores or offensive content; and do not use the site to infringe anyone else’s rights. We may restrict access from networks that abuse the service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, shortcut-tools.com and its operator are not liable for any loss, lost data, or damage arising from using or relying on the site, including a shortcut that behaves differently in your software version. The site is operated from South Korea; these terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and any dispute that cannot be settled by discussion will be brought before the courts of Korea.

10. Changes

We may update these terms when the service changes. The effective date at the top is the version you are reading, and material changes are announced on the blog. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
