What is the shortcut to add a comment in Notion?
Ctrl + Shift + M — Create a comment
Select the text or block and press Ctrl + Shift + M (Cmd + Shift + M on Mac) to open a comment on it. Comments attached to a block appear in the page's comment thread in the right-hand panel.

Comments on blocks versus pages
Ctrl + Shift + M comments on whatever is selected: highlighted text gets an inline comment anchored to those words, and a selected block (click its handle first) gets a comment on the whole block. With nothing selected on the page, the same shortcut adds a page-level comment at the top, which is the right place for "this whole doc needs a review by Friday". All three appear in the comments sidebar, opened from the icon at the top right.
Mentions, resolution and notifications
Typing @ inside a comment mentions a person, who receives a notification in Notion and, if enabled, by email or Slack; @ also links a page or a date. Comments are threaded — reply rather than adding a new one — and the Resolve tick hides the thread while keeping it in history. Resolved threads can be reopened from the sidebar's filter. Guests on a shared page can comment without edit access, which makes comments the safest way to gather feedback on a published doc.
Where comments are not
Comments do not export to PDF or Markdown, and they are not searched by the global search box — use the Updates or Inbox view to find recent ones. Suggested edits, which Notion added later, are separate from comments and are enabled per page.
Comment shortcuts around the page
With a comment thread open, Cmd/Ctrl + Enter posts the reply and Esc closes the editor without posting. Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + M on a selection is the only creation shortcut; on mobile, the comment icon in the block menu does the same. The comments sidebar can be filtered to open threads only, which is the view to use when clearing feedback before publishing.
