One letter per action

Google Calendar's shortcuts are nearly all bare letters. C creates an event from anywhere, E opens the selected event's details, Backspace deletes it and Z undoes if pressed promptly. T snaps to today, G jumps to any date, and N / P page forward and back through whatever range you are viewing. / drops you into search.

Views are letters too: D day, W week, M month, A the scrolling agenda list, and X a custom view whose span — 4 days, 2 weeks, whatever you configure — is set once in settings. Switching between W for planning and D for the day's detail becomes as natural as changing tabs. R refreshes, S opens settings, + subscribes to a calendar, and Ctrl + Alt + . / Ctrl + Alt + , cycle the side-panel apps.

Frequently asked questions

None of the letter shortcuts do anything. Why?

Keyboard shortcuts are a setting: press S... which also will not work until it is on, so open Settings from the gear menu, find Keyboard shortcuts, and enable it. Once on, pressing ? shows Calendar's own reference overlay at any time.

What exactly is the X view?

A span you define. In Settings → View options, choose what X means — anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks — and it becomes your third mode alongside D and W. A 4-day custom view is a popular sweet spot: more context than a day, less noise than a week.

How fast can I capture an event?

C from any view opens creation immediately — type the title, adjust the time, Ctrl + S saves, Esc abandons. Combined with T to reorient and N to hop weeks, whole scheduling sessions can run without the mouse.

I deleted the wrong event. Can I get it back?

Press Z right away — undo works in the moments after deletion while the confirmation toast is visible. After that window, check the calendar's trash via Settings, where deleted events remain recoverable for a limited period.

Do these work in every browser and on mobile?

They are a web-app feature, and the letters behave the same across desktop browsers once enabled. The mobile apps use touch patterns instead — long-press and tap — so the keyboard set on this page applies to calendar.google.com on a computer.
