Trello's single-letter shortcuts act on whichever card is under your mouse pointer — or on the card you have selected with J and K, which walk down and up a list. There is no separate select-then-act step: point at a card, tap a letter, and the action lands. This is why Trello feels faster with keys than nearly any other board tool once the letters are in muscle memory.
A triage pass over a busy board becomes a chain of taps: J to step onto the next card, Space to assign yourself, D for a due date, L for a label, M to add teammates, then , or . to shove the card into the neighbouring list on the left or right. E opens quick edit when a one-line change is enough, while Enter opens the full card for anything bigger, and N drops a brand-new card directly beneath the one you are hovering.
F opens the board filter and Q toggles the fastest filter of all — show only the cards assigned to you. X clears every active filter when the board starts hiding too much. B opens the board switcher, where typing a few letters and pressing Enter jumps you to another board entirely. If you ever forget a key, Shift + ? opens Trello's own reference without leaving the page, and Z undoes your last action — with the caveat that deletions are permanent, which is a good reason to archive with C instead of deleting.
A text field had focus — card titles, comments, and the search box all capture normal typing. Press Esc to leave the field (or click empty board space), and the single-letter shortcuts start working again.
Z undoes your last action and Shift + Z redoes it. The exception is deletion, which cannot be undone — prefer C to archive a card, because archived cards can be restored from the board menu at any time.
Hover the card and press , to send it one list to the left or . one list to the right. For longer jumps, open the card with Enter and use its Move action, or simply drag — but for the common case of pushing work along a pipeline, the comma and period keys beat dragging every time.
Space only toggles your own membership on a card. To add a teammate, press M to open the members menu and pick the person; the same menu removes them again.
Yes — Ctrl + C copies the hovered card and Ctrl + V pastes it where your cursor is, including on a different board or list. On macOS use Cmd in place of Ctrl.
